Sue Maslin studied film, television and radio at the ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓÆµ National University. One of her first films was the documentary Thanks Girls and Goodbye (1988), focusing on the Women's Land Army in World War 2. Her other documentary work includes Michael Kirby (2011), The Edge of the Possible (1998) and The Highest Court (1998). She also produced the feature films Road to Nhill (1997) and Japanese Story (2003).

Maslin helped to establish the Victorian chapter of Women in Film and Television and was the first president of Women in Film and Television (Australia). In 2012, she was one of the inaugural recipients of the Victorian Screen Leaders Awards.
