Rosa Cappiello was born in Naples in 1942. She arrived in Australia in 1971. Her autobiographical novel Paese Fortunato: Romanzo, which marked a new direction in migrant writing, was published in 1981. She died in Italy in 2008.
Work on The Encyclopedia of Women and Leadership in Twentieth-Century Australia was undertaken as part of the ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Research Council's Linkage Projects funding scheme (project number LP100200304).
