Alison Anderson was born in Ikuntji (Haasts Bluff), Northern Territory in 1958. She first entered parliament in 2005 when she was elected to the seat of MacDonnell in the Northern Territory, but resigned from the ministry and the ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓÆµ Labor Party in 2009. She subsequently joined the Country Liberal Party and won the seat of Namatjira at the election of August 2012 and was appointed Minister for Aboriginal Advancement and Regional Development, Minister for Women's Policy and Minister for Children and Families.
