Lyn Allison was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1946. She entered parliament as a senator for Victoria in 1996. She was deputy leader of the ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓÆµ Democrats from 2002 to 2004 and leader from 2004 to 2008. Allison lost her seat at the 2007 federal election. Since leaving politics, she has been a board member of organisations including Vision Australia, Berry Street and Alzheimer's Australia.
