Shirley de la Hunty (née Strickland) was born in Guildford, Western Australia in 1925. She competed in three Olympic Games and, in 1948, became the first ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓÆµ woman to win an Olympic medal in a track and field event. She died in 2004.
