Samantha Jenkinson was born in Western Australia and became disabled as the result of a car accident at the age of 20. She worked with Women with Disabilities in Victoria in the early 2000s before returning to Western Australia to work with the Disability Services Commission. In 2012, she became Chair of the Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability in Western Australia and a member of the National Disability Insurance Scheme expert group on 'Control and Choice'. At the National Disability Awards in 2012, Samantha Jenkinson received the Minister's Award for Excellence in Disability Reform in recognition of her long-standing commitment to disability reform.
